Exploring Goa in April: My First Visit

 In April, I had the pleasure of visiting Goa for the first time, and what an experience it was! Though the weather was hot and humid during the afternoons, I planned my activities in the mornings and evenings, which allowed me to fully enjoy this tropical paradise.

Day 1: Arrival & North Goa Beaches

I flew from Delhi’s IGI Airport, landing in Goa just in time to enjoy a relaxed afternoon. After checking into a beautiful resort, I had my first taste of Goa’s charm—complete relaxation under the shade of palm trees. By late afternoon, I made my way to Baga Beach, one of the most popular spots in North Goa. The beach was vibrant, with a lively crowd enjoying the sun, sea, and sand. After soaking in the atmosphere, I headed to Calangute Beach to witness the magnificent sunset. The view of the sun dipping into the Arabian Sea was breathtaking.

In the evening, I explored the nearby market, picking up some souvenirs and local handicrafts. Dinner was a treat—an open-air beachside restaurant, where I enjoyed food under the stars, with the sound of waves crashing in the background. It was the perfect end to my first day.

Day 2: Aguada Fort, Churches & Scooty Rides

On my second day, I decided to explore more of North Goa, and what better way to do it than by renting a scooty? It's the best way to navigate the narrow roads and explore hidden gems.

The first stop was the historic Aguada Fort. Perched atop a hill overlooking the sea, this Portuguese fort offered stunning views of the coastline. From there, I visited the nearby Aguada Beach, which is more tranquil compared to the bustling Baga and Calangute beaches. The afternoon was dedicated to exploring Goa's rich cultural heritage. I visited some of its most iconic churches, such as the Basilica of Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral, where the architecture left me awe-inspired.

In the evening, I once again indulged in beachside dining before calling it a day.

Day 3: South Goa Adventure

For my third day, I decided to explore South Goa, which is known for its quieter, more pristine beaches. I rented a car to make the longer commute from North to South Goa, which made the journey comfortable and convenient.

My first destination was Colva Beach, one of the most serene beaches in South Goa. The white sand, calm waves, and fewer tourists created the perfect atmosphere for a peaceful day by the sea. I spent most of my day lounging on the beach, enjoying the soothing sound of the waves.

In the evening, I checked into a resort nearby and enjoyed a relaxed night before heading to my next destination.

Day 4: Rain and Beauty at Bogmalo Beach

On my final day, I headed to Bogmalo Beach, which is relatively smaller and more secluded compared to other beaches I had visited. As soon as I arrived, it started raining, turning the beach into a magical paradise. The rain was refreshing and made the weather pleasantly cool. Walking on the wet sand with raindrops falling was one of the most beautiful moments of my trip.

By evening, it was time to head back to the airport and catch my flight back home, wrapping up my incredible Goan adventure.

Final Thoughts

Goa in April is a unique experience. While the afternoons can be hot and humid, the mornings and evenings are perfect for beach hopping, sightseeing, and enjoying Goa’s vibrant culture. Renting a scooty made exploring North Goa easy, while a car was essential for the longer distances in South Goa. I thoroughly enjoyed the blend of beaches, history, and local flavor, and can’t wait to return!
